Big variation in my ranking (from 1400 to 1150)

Hello,

I play chess here since july 2022. I started from 500 to 1200 average.

There is something I don't understand.

10 days ago, I reached my all time high elo : 1401. I did this day a streak of 12 consecutive wins. Everything seemed really easy at this moment, like flying in the air. I was afraid chess.com think I was cheating so I went to sleep 😅 Besides, my streak no longer appears on my profile.

Since the day that followed, my rating keeps falling. It's like Iif I can't see anything anymore. I fall in every trap. I do stupid mistakes. It's demoralizing.

Of course, my rating has never been stable. But this huge difference is really disturbing.

I have to say I'm 43 years old and diagnosed with autism (asperger). Do you think it has a connection ? Or every players has this kind of huge variations ?

If you look at your history, you have had sharp runups and declines numerous times. You have reached 1300 several times in the past but recently you reached a new high recently.

The recent decline looks somewhat sharper. But if you look at your history, you have always come back. It is natural to get discouraged after a string of losses and it is hard to find anything in particular that you can fix. I hope you to take the time to review your losses to see where you went wrong.

It looks like you have been playing a lot of games over the last week. 314 rapid games since December 4th is a lot. I think it works out to something like 35 games per day. That would take you about 12 hours a day.

The main thing is to be able to focus and to do that you need to calm down and perhaps give yourself a short rest from chess or break to think about other things. (I am talking about a break of at least a couple of days.)

Take some time off. You will probably feel a lot better if you get away from chess for a while.

It's just chess. It is fun but there are a lot of other fun things to do besides chess. Take a walk. Listen to music. Meet with friends.

Thank you. I think you are right : I played too much. Not counting the puzzles...

I will stop playing for a few days and come back with a rested brain tongue
