I’ve had a fair bit of success lately with an interesting and risky gambit: sacrificing my bishop on move 4 taking Black’s F2 pawn. The only option for Black is to take back with the King. I lose my undefended bishop, but they lose castling rights. At the sub 1000 level it seems to have the effect of totally throwing the opponent off their game - they don’t expect it, don’t know how to counter it and are forced to spend the rest of the game worrying about an exposed King. Presumably the higher up you get the less effective this gambit is. But certainly at my level, it seems like a bit of a cheat code. What is black’s best counter play against it?
As Black after White sac on f7 , I think its important for Black to prevent any nonsense on g5 and develop naturally. Playing pawn to h6 and control the g5 square and then develop naturally should be fine for black.
