Bishop or Knight

What would you rather have, and value the most, bishops or knights? Im not talking about if its a closed or open game, or if its the end game. Just if you would have to choose which of the two to start the game with out which would it be?

To start developing the game, the knight heheh, I think the bishop is a little bit valuable than knight

i would choose the knight if i had to.

but for real value, like u said it depends on the game.  open closed, end game, or just the position of each piece.

If I had to give 2 minor piece odds to a beginner and I had to choose between 2 knights and 2 bishops... hmm.

Knights are a bit more effective in the opening/middlde game -- but when it comes down to it, you're dead lost either way.  I'd go with the bishops because beginners tend to miss long line moves and on the chess side of it I'm betting I'd make it well into the middle game where the bishops would be more valuable than 2 knights.

By choosing two knights I'd be setting myself up for very aggressive play/matting attack right away.  I mean, that would make the most sense.

If I could only choose to keep 1 minor piece I think the knight is an easy choice.  Already down so much material I can't afford to have a piece that only hits half the board.  I'd also want to prolong the game and confuse my beginner opponent giving him chances to drop plenty of pieces... I'd be more comfortable doing that with a knight.

Any which way i would love to keep a knight.
