Which do you think, a bishop or a knight. I know they both have strengths and weaknesses. But which one do you think is better in average?

Drop your bias for the Bishop, it'll hamper your judgement. It depends entirely on the position.

The difference is trivial unless you are a high skilled player.

if in the initial position you were allowed four bishops (on b1,c1,f1,g1 / b8,c3,f8,g8) or four knights (same as above) and you were to face a player with normal chess configuration, which would you take?
