Blitz might for example be helpful in practising your (new) openings.
Blitz - harmful or not?

Once I had a Queen and a king vs. a king and I still got a draw
Don't brag about that.

Yeah, its not something im too proud of. :/

Yeah that's true most 1400 blitz players don't know how or use the longest method to mate with a king and rook vs king... I (1600) got laughed at in the endgame against a 1550 because he thought I didn't know how to mate with a rook. The fact is I do.. U practice all these things in blitz.. I haven't played standard in goodness know how long.. Though if u like your blitz rating that much but want to play longer games play a 10 minute match

Anand's career started with blitz tournaments. He is quite good right now, last time I checked he won a World Championsship match against Gelfand.

When i was High School we did drills on this situation.
Why? We had the 21 move rule which means if you do not mate in 21 moves it is a draw. So we praticed mating with: practice this
King and Queen vs King
King and Rook vs King
King and 2 Rooks vs King (mainly using the 2 Rooks)
King and 2 Bishops vs King
King and Pawn vs King (the pawn can not be Rook pawn a or h-pawn)

Hey, I`m able to mate very easy with king and rook vs. king!
How about in Blitz? Tic, tic, tic.............. Not so easy if your opponent knows how to mate with them also so they know what squares to avoid and then add in the "Draw rules" here. The advantage has to be forced.

I almost never run out of time so watch it.
Almost and Never....... something is wrong here. Which one is it?
Well we know it can not be never else you would have just said never. And you must be playing an easy time game. The GM's run out of time.

Does your keyboard have an apostrophe?
' .... correct (apostrophe)
`.... wrong (grave accent)

And yet this response would seem to suggest otherwise...

Still, at least that did serve to remind me of Egbert Souse...
Pretty simple really, and Bur_Oak touched on this. Blitz allows players to go through games extremely rapidly. The best contributions probably would include understanding material sacrifice, traps, and sharp openings very well (due to high rate of games played). However, these players would undoubtedly miss out on the more "positional" aspect. The longer time constraints give a player the oportunity to develop in depth analytical skills, giving them the ability to navigate a complex position with accuracy. Closed positions and long term advantages are also better understood as a result. So Blitz games does not hurt gameplay really, it just develops a different aspect of the same game. :)
