When both players pace their play to be able to reach 50 or 60 moves then the wins come from the position. Although when your opponent is much better than you (or you're new or rusty to speed games) it's hard to keep up.
You run the risk of cheating either way, I don't know which is more common... I'd guess in longer games it's more common.
if you are playing 3 0 and encountering players under 2200 you should not be having any problems.
nobody knows exactly how much cheating there is per time control. (although chess.com Could investigate)- but the point is. discussions of that Are forbidden on the forum.
regarding wins by time. if you're playing too slow for G5 your going to lose a lot of games on time. if you can make it horribly hard for your opponent to figure out, you can win alot of G5 at blitz, too...
But I'm not a good blitz player.
if I were you, I would focus the thread on winning by time- because if this thread becomes about cheating- I forsee it being locked.
If you want time to be less of a factor play with an increment. Most of the time I play 5/5 and most of my games are not won or lost on time. As for cheating, it shouldn't be a concern at your level at any time control. I've had ONE game that I was suspicious of. Yes a few people do cheat but I don't think it happens nearly as much as some paranoid people would have you believe.

I play on the app and 5/5 is one of the default choices. It usually doesn't take very long to get an opponent. A minute or two tops, usually less.

After many games it evens out.
When cheaters take points, then get banned, over time it lowers everyone's rating though.
Heh, maybe that's the main reason chess.com has had to add points to rating pools in the past.

it doesnt even matter. If you have skill to be rated 1200 youll be rated 1200. if u lose to a cheater at 1200 youll then face opponent below 1200 and probably win. the only way it affects your rating is if there are more cheaters than regular users. in that case you may be ratef 1200 when you are actually a 1300 but everone else would be underrated as well. It makes difference but im sure you are too stupid to figure that out.

I was only asking opinions or advice on if the 3-5 minutes in blitz made a differenece to someone using an engine, for example. I have more success in these games, just thought I would share that..

Being sorta new to blitz chess, I have been playing in 5 minute time controls and am noticing the wins come from the time restrictions. Anyway, the reason for my post is to ask the more experienced blitz players......Less cheating/engines being used in blitz, or either way you run the risk?!??
