I find usually players who have only ever played either Bullet or Blitz i find there ratings are only a basic guide to actual playing ability, the reason I say this is i was pestered by a player wanting to play me i told him I had not played Blitz or any Quick play for 15 years and the minimum I would play would be-One Day per move my opponents Blitz rating was 1730 compared to my standard player rating of 1460 after the first 14 moves my opponent was 2 pawns down with NO Compensation after 23 moves he was 2 Pawns + and an exchange down, and after 29 moves resigned facing either mate or further material loss. he played most moves instantly? obviously still in Blitz mode? which i feel tells a story in itself. I think if you only have ever played Blitz or Bullet chess you will have a lack in understanding especially in the middle games, banking purely on cheap tricks that don't tend to work when playing a longer time control!?
