Play what you enjoy the most. In terms of improving, do you mean improving OTB ratings in tournaments? Blitz might not be the best there, but it's better then nothing. I think it's just going to increase your blitz capability and not standard, honestly.
Tactics Trainer, Chess Mentor, the videos, some books, and playing either blitz or slower live with some correspondance thrown in should all help you. They have me and I was a complete newbie to chess when I started here, though I'm still as such, all of that has definitely helped.
So hey, how ya doin'? :)
I'm a beginner, a pretty terrible one because i hate learning stuff i enjoy, i want to be good now dammit!!
I signed up for diamond membership about a weeks ago for teh video lessons, which have been awesome and improved by game from the pits of despair it was in when my rating went below 800 (stop laughing) to a relatively respectable 1150 (ish) but im wondering, after watching Daniel Rensch's Live Sessions; The Fast and the Furious, whether i'd be better off playing faster games that the 15|10 live chess games i'm almost exclusively playing now. Or would i be better off playing lots of Online Chess games at the same time?
What would be your recommendation?
