the system won't actually let u make an illegal move like that so even if u try it will just automatically put ur piece back
Bltz Chess question

i'm assuming you're talking otb games (since the software won't allow you to make an illegal move). according to the FIDE rules i recently read, you and your opponent (and the arbiter) must work to move the pieces back to the original position before the mistake was made. if this isn't possible for whatever reason then the game must be replayed.

I am pretty sure this isnt correct for otb blitz chess. If you make an illegal move in blitz and your opponent catches it he calls the arbiter ( stops the clocks first) and claims the game......you lose when you make an illegal move in blitz chess.

Are you sure this is accurate? As far as I was aware if one player makes an illegal move then the other player gets time added to their clock and only after three illegal moves can the other player claim the win. This might differ from federation to federation though.

I have only played rated blitz chess under USCF rules and FIDE rules. In both if you made an illegal move you lose IF your opponent catches it. If your opponent doesnt notice it the game continues as if nothing happened. I won a blitz game only this year because my opponent castled illegally.

USCF blitz rules:
"14.) A player who has played an illegal move must retract it and make a legal move with the piece touched prior to pressing the clock. If no legal move exists with that piece then he may make any legal move. Illegal moves unnoticed by both players cannot be corrected afterwards. An illegal move is completed when the player presses the clock, whereupon the opponent may claim a win."
There are a few subtleties related to insufficient mating material, simultaneous flag falls, unnoticed illegal moves, and spectator announcement.
Lets say youre playing a really quick game like a 1 minute game, and you are playing so fast that you didnt realize you made an illegal move (moving king into check or moving a piece that is pinned to the king) until like 5 moves later and you cant really remeber the time/position of your pieces before the illegal move. What do you do? End the game and start over? just some thoughts from you guys...
