Any clues on how to change the board size on live chess's new style, the options in size of board didn't work, but the other options do.

When you have your mouse in this zone, you can click and hold, and then drag right and left to get your board size.

Doesn't work for me either.

and I can read only a fraction of the chat, the top half is cut off the last reply, and I don't know if previous chat should show, but there's nothing. I really don't like the new interface.

I'm using Mozilla Firefox and tried the mouse move. All it did was change the width of the two windows, but NOT the size of the board.

With this new interface, the board is even smaller and I can hardly see the tiny chess pieces. Yep. I tried settings and different board setting. Still no luck. Any ideas on how I can get a larger board size?

What I would really like is a board that could almost fill my entire computer screen.

When I watch videos on this site, I can set the view to full screen and the chess pieces look great.  In Live Chess, the chess pieces and board are too small.

I also tried to zoom in using ++<+> but the graphics screen (scream) has a mind of it's own and keeps on de-sizing.

(text re-sizing inspired by Musikamole)

Fortunately the online chess screen hasn't been "improved" yet... (please excuse the sarcasm), frusration brings out the best in me.

I just found that you can still access the "basic version" by selecting the option under the "LIVE CHESS" button on the intro screen.

I just found the basic version. The new version is broken.

Using Mozilla Firefox v3.6.8 and this method works for me!

I updated to FireFox v3.6.8, and moved the divider, this caused the board window to enlarge, but it only stretches the window, without increasing the size of the playing board. Is this what you are referring to, or does the actual playing board grow as well as the window holding the board on your screen?

The board can be made smaller, by reducing the size of the window as you suggest,  but I couldn't increase the size above a given parameter, regardless of the size chosen in the settings menu.

No the board size changed as well as the window. I can also change the board size by 1) clicking settings 2) choosing a board size and 3) clicking save settings.

I've been through the process you described a number of times since posting the question, but the board doesn't increase past a given parameter regardless of the size chose in the settings options, despite the other options all working fine. but thanks for your follow up.

Well thats a bummer. Sorry that didn't help. I wonder if there is some obscure setting in Firefox that stops it from resizing.

I'm another that just chooses the basic version rather than the new.

I am using firefox and am having the same problems as others. When I choose a larger board size in settings it simply makes the window bigger but keeps the same board size. any fixes for this?

I still havn't found a fix for the problem, so I use the basic version from the first live chess screen. It works well.

I don't know if there are any advantages to the new layout, but this is one of those times when size does make a difference.
