It is clear that Fischer will win quite easily.
I'm not sure that Fischer "will win quite easily" as you said.

Bobby is, and always will be, The Greatest Of All Time!
January 17 will be thirteen years he's been gone. Bobby was the only one that could create such masterpieces on the board.
HAIL TO THE KING!
"Morphy never played a clock game. Advantage Fischer."
I don't know whether Morphy ever played with a clock, although clocks were is use since the Great London 1851 Tournament. But by all accounts, Morphy generally played quite quickly, so I'm not sure a clock--once he got used to it--would present a problem.
There were 19th Century players who did take an enormous amount of time. but Morphy wasn't one of them
The first use of clocks in chess was at London in 1883.
You're right. I had misremembered. They had experimented with sand glasses in the 1850's, but the use of clocks came later. But Morphy was a very quick player in any event
And you were correct about the swiftness of Morphy's play. of course, he was head and shoulders above his competition.
Morphy only ever played as good as he needed to play and blitzed out many moves in classical matches - if he was alive during Fischer's time, with access to much more advanced opening theory and engame/middlegame analysis, as well as accepting he will have to actually try, sheer talent from Morphy would win.
if both were born at the same time, i am inclined to say that morphy would always come out on top. he was studious in chess as well. he wasn't like capablanca. he actually read up on opening theory and games from previous players. not to the same extent as fischer, but if both had the same of information to cover, i think it's safe to say that morphy's talent would be enough to give him the edge. but as things are now, without any kind of change? 1971 fischer vs 1860s morphy? fischer stomps him, unfortunatly.
MORPHY WOULD GET CRUSHED BY FISCHER. IN A TEN GAME MATCH--FISCHER WOULD WIN 10-0 REMEMBER TJHE POPULATION OF THE WORLD AND CJHESS WORLD WAS MUCH SMALLER IN HE TIME OF MORPH.Y.
Fischer (2867, all time #2) while Morphy (2716 all time #84).

Fischer was so deluded that Morphy was the GOAT that his subconscious would let Morphy win to keep up his delusions.
