Chessmaster (it doesn't have a book though)
I hear of a book called Chess for dummies but have no idea how good it is?? Would like to get one that is simple to follow Thanks
Is this a book or is it the chess engine. Maybe it uses the chess engine with it when it is called chessmaster. Do you know the author and would it start a the beginning and then advance to a stage in easy steps to bring you to the next level. Do you also know the cost??? As you know you can buy many books and they are just written to make money mostly out them and others are made to help as best then can to help the reader to learn from it. To deep a book you will just not keep reading it. I suppose it would like a very good teacher and one that you have not a clue what they are talking about????
any books by bruce pandolfini are good at your level of play right now
Does any one of them come with a dvd to help you in force you learning

Yes, "Chess for Dummies" is good. That was my first introduction to the game, and having no-where else to turn, I bought it and taught myself how to play simply by reading it. If you are already playing, the book may even be too elementary for you, but then, I don't really know just how far you've progressed. If it's any guide, I'm still referring to my Chess for Dummies every now and then. It will teach you all the basics and perhaps a little bit more. It doesn't have a DVD.

i would recommend you never buy book named "chess for dummies " by james eade. This book is so bad that it will wate your time and will never improve your play. only one chapter on openings is good but thats not worth its price. i have purchased that book ( i bought for only $ 1.5 in my currency ), read it and found that it didnt improved me. Dont belive me ? see amazon reviews. i think this book is so unorganised that the author will confuse you.
