Bot Sardoche (1800) is a bigger challenge than I expected
Did you try? He feels like he is above the usual 1800 rated bots.
I searched for exactly this question because I also can't beat Sardoche but I beat all other 1800 bots. Good to know I'm not alone in this, it was hurting my confidence as I'm trying to get my blitz and rapid ratings to stay over 1700
I think the thing is that he makes very few errors on standard plays and he plays various defending openings, which makes it difficult to lock him down to a specific play. I managed to beat him in the end, where he blundered somewhere in the midgame but's it's a minor blunder that only give you a small advantage. His end game is pretty solid so it's difficult to beat him without some advantage ahead in the end game. Anyway, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I had a play with 92% accuracy in a game where I beat him https://www.chess.com/game/computer/941102023.
I like playing bots. I usually look forward to play the new themed bots beginning of every month. I usually play against the first three bots but never the last because bots above 2000 is out of my reach - but I usually enjoy playing bots around 1800 elo - taking some tries before I get it. Sometimes it takes a few sessions before I can beat the bots around 1800-1900.. But in the end I usually beat them.
I have been playing against the Sardoche bot (1800) lately and this bot seems to be a bit higher than the usual 1800 bots I play against. I cannot beat him. I played a remis against him once but never won a game. If I play a game of 70% accuracy I get beaten of course but even when I play a game with 93% accuracy I still get my a** beaten by this bot.
I was wondering if anyone else noticed this bot is unusually strong compared to it's elo on 1800?
A few things. I always play white, I usually play the Italian opening. These are rules that I like to put on myself because I just like that play.
Would be interesting to hear someone's opinion on playing against Sardoche 1800 bot with white, Italian opening
