It's not too hard to pick the right move when everything else loses quickly.

BlackLawliet

Good point.

Anyone else?

BlackLawliet

I guess that's a no.

Please post your brilliancies here so we can decide on who's is the best! If you want to vote for someone's brilliancy, just repost it and add an indicator that you are voting for it, such as a +1.  To start us off, here is mine:Bxe6!!

Also, it would be preferable if you based your judgments on the complexity of the move, rather than just picking queen sacrifices. For example, a pawn move may not seem as good as a queen sacrifice, but it may be harder to find/requires more calculation to play successfully.

Thankyou!

+1

So do I win?

BlackLawliet

Also if you have a really good move that is not a brilliancy, you can still post it to be entered in this competition.

I don't know if this one counts, since this is a puzzle I created (even though it's based on a real game I played - the only difference is that the rook is on c8 instead of d8)

Anyways, Bxf3!!, Rxg2!, and Rxh2! are all considered Brilliant by Stockfish

Does the rook placement affect whether it's a brilliancy or not? whether or not, It's still good!

Graywing13

It doesn't.

Also, Bxe6 is a very nice move. +1!

Thanks! By the way, if yours was made to be a puzzle, it's a great one! Outstanding combination!

I analysed the puzzle, and the engine thought that white was +6.00. It didn't even realize that it was a dead draw until the line was played out, and even after that, the engine says that it starts with white being up about +2.5, which is interesting since with perfect play from both sides, it's simply a draw. This confirms that this combo is brilliant due to the fact that the engine doesn't know whats going on until the line is played.

Thanks!

If people could vote for their favorite brilliancies or post more, it would be much appreciated.

BlackLawliet

Ok, I guess the contest is over unless someone posts a brilliancy soon.
