Um.
Bringing my game to a new level
My advice: Play chess with a cat in your lap.
Just don't take that advice yourself: could get messy.
I was thinking it was a metaphor of some kind, fissionfowl.....
You think too much.
This is very true. There is no "off" switch. Being full brained can be a drag.
Well you're apparently not full brained enough to see that my post was a joke.
EDIT: post 5 that is.
I already knew the basics. Castle early. Control the center of the board. Develop my pieces. Don't give away pawns as each one is a potential queen upon promotion. What I didn't grasp until just this week were the intangibles. No fear. It's just a chess game. The pieces move the same no matter who is playing them. Don't be in a "rush" to show how 'good" or "competent" you are. Slow is fast. I found myself getting very Lao Tzu and Laissez-faire about the actual joy of playing the game...the sport of chess. But the most IMPORTANT epiphany that I had after 900 blitz games boiled down to one word. LOGIC. Is this a logical move? Does this move make sense or is it going to have adverse consequences? I have adopted a logical paradigm and a fearless demeanor, and my rating has gone up 150 points in ten days as a result. Every action...and for that matter, reaction, has a consequence. Especially in chess. It is an obvious metaphor for life....winning, loss, triumph, regrets, redemption, promotion, transposition, kings and queens, pawns and bishops. Do not underestimate discipline and people that are clearly more erudite than you in a certain field. My teachers...my masters have been the amazing global community here at Chess.com. People willing to yield me some time to help me with my game from over 40 countries. If you want to get better, you have to do better.....pride goeth before a fall...don't be ashamed or too hubristic to ASK someone better than you...someone clearly more adroit than you are at this beautiful game for advice or counsel. My caveat....if you do decide to ask.....listen and apply what you understand or what suits your game. You are not going to be an IM or GM if you are rated where I am....but you sure can feel like one.

I don't think you need to worry about that.
you see Ivandh and Fission Fowl have to let everyone know when they make a joke because they are just not funny at all or witty. And they spend almost all their lives on chess forums. So dont worry about their comments DragonFlirt. They are ultimately Losers.... And sorry guys but you are not funny. But keep trying. or try open mic at a comedy night. See how that works because you are clearly wasting your lives away here.... Sorry just tell it like i see it...
