Are you sure you actually ever had a girlfriend? If she left you due to your chess obsession then it’s your fault. You can’t blame her. People who do not play chess have a right to be annoyed when someone in the room with them is either playing or looking at chess. Talking about chess is even worse.
I think compared to family and relations hobbies like chess (or video games, movies, etc) should come 2nd

3-4 hours aren't enough for someone to leave you imo. probably chess added up to some other factors
everybody deserves a couple of hours for themselves every single day. You gave a bit more than a couple, but not merely enough for someone that really loves you to leave.
