Bullet Chess is just a matter of reaction or technique?

Of course at first look people can think that is just a matter of reaction or even luck. Anyway it´s no how it is. According to neurologic expert "When forced to make a quick decision, we may be relying on real data, not just a reaction." That means as much a person study and play will develop a better quick repertory to these fast stimuli. But attention!!! The emotional area has a stronger influence in quick decisions. The funny thing is that the expert also say´s that as old a person get slower will be to decide.

In case of Bullet Chess (1 min match) same times a not "book" or unexpected move can distract the opponent what can be a advantage to win the match in time.

What about you?

I find it makes a big difference if I'm looking at the whole board all at once, rather than just sections of the board.  At first I found moving the pieces more difficult but adapted to that.
