1237 is way lower than 1300, you ain't fooling no one
Came back to chess after 2 years and dropped from 1300 to 1000 rapid in a matter of days
There is a theory that especially in the lower rating range, a 1300 rating now represents a stronger player than it would have a few years ago. Reason being with chess being more popular during the pandemic, many people tried out chess.com who didn't even really know the rules, and those players ended up with the lowest ratings (say, 300). However, most of those people just don't play chess anymore, and there aren't as many total beginners trying out chess.com these days. However, someone still has to be 300, which probably was those people who were 500 in 2020.
