Yes if they have the talent but they won't be at the top.
Can a Talented Chess Player Become GM without using Computing Devices
Sultan Khan beat a world champion without knowing how to read. Therefore he cant ready any of the opening books. So he kinda winged his chess
I am not convinced. My Opinion is nobody can become GM without computer assistance in training and preparation in 2021 and Up i think IM is even impossible now
Would the Kasparov of 1995 be a GM today? If you think 'yes' as I do, then certainly it would be possible. Especially because many of the things we have learned from computers have been published in books and so you don't need to use the computer to learn the techniques. That said, there is little point in trying to do it that way, it would take longer, and you would have a disadvantage against any other top players.
Of course it is possible. Capablanca and Reshevsky became very strong players at a young age--holding simuls and demonstrations where they defeated many good adult players. Morphy studied the few chess books available in New Orleans in his childhood and became the best player in the world, surpassing everyone else by a wide margin. The extremely rare people with that kind of innate chess talent can become GMs no matter how they learn and study.
For lesser mortals, it is more problematic. The GM title can only be won by playing and beating other GMs and IMs. The volume of opening knowledge available to today's GM is so extensive that someone without a computer will often come out of the opening with a small disadvantage. This is usually enough for a GM to eventually squeeze out a win, making it harder for the "unbooked" player to earn GM norms.
Are Chess Informants and Chess Publishing Books enough to provide all the knowledge to Talented Chess Player? Without Chessbase, the GM title looks like Mount Everest to climb.
Russia have plenty of excellent books and coaches. Plenty of GMs and IMs to play with in OTB tournaments. I guess a Russian player have the best chance to become GM without Modern Technology.
Books, coaches, engines, data bases only help, none of these is essential.
AlphaZero became top just by playing 700000 games against itself with no other input than the rules.

My topic is about talented chess players ignoring use of computer and still attain GM. It's a huge handicap without computer assistance. I hope someone from Russia, Ukraine, Armenia will try.
Olympians from 20 to 50 years ago are far way behind in today top athetes standards. Same to chess as well.
If everyone train with better equipments and technologies, why you would like to compete with handicapped old schooled techniques?
No one will waste their time in training with your outdated methods simply to slow down progress compared with peers. So your proposal is invalid to proove.
Is it possible a Talented young chess player become a GM without using Modern Technology? Rely on Old School methods like paper books, human coach and OTB play only. We know last century that is possible. In 2021 and up, can someone still become GM without using Chessbase, Engine Analysis, Sparring with Engines?
