Half truths.
Can Anyone Become Grandmaster?

No
You know the site and have seen his profile? or just a strong hunch?
GM's are diamond members, and they don't say such nonsense.
1. Yureesystem already said that it's not this site. Read.
2. This is backed up by Grandmaster1's membership level: "King subscriber": no such thing on this site. Examine.
You are not so great, even to us poor wretches, that you can answer questions without even understanding the question, or engaging your brain.

If a player has talent, he or she can become Grandmaster quickly
__and also__
I been playing otb rated games for year, the highest player I drew was a Senior Master
So ... you have no talent? In which case why should we listen to your opinion?

Wow, you mean that when two accounts on different servers have the same name, then must it be the same person? Does that mean that when I would take the name pfren on HelenaSchaken.nl that I am an IM too? That should be the easiest road to GM. Anyone can do it. QED :-)

Grandmaster1 also has an account on chess.com- CHECK.
A Grandmaster would never use a handle like "Grandmaster1" - THINK.
I can read, and I am very sorry about your poorness- although it's not my fault, really.
1. So what? he already said that the Grandmaster1 he was talking about was on another site. Even finding another "Grandmaster1" account on this site means nothing (without particular knowledge).... it's bound to be the handle that lots of patzers want, on every site.
2. Of course, I suspect that Grandmaster1 is not an actual grandmaster, hence my question. I was leading him, seeking an admission. I know that you prefer to scream and shout the whole time, but some of us have evolved, just a little.
No question was directed at you, but you chose to stick your oar in the water anyway, and got it all wrong. Then you decide to back up your error with spurious argument. Quit while you are behind but still own a shirt.

Dear mr. Doggy_Style,

Well, if I ever become a grandmaster I might just have to change my handle to Grandmaster1.

Yeah right, I just have seen someone with the name BillClinton. Must be the former president of the United States.
Alas, whenever you see LoekBergman somewhere else, then might it be my nephew (or somebody else).
People have a preference for certain names, but they are not the only ones. They can't claim a name (or even domainname), hence you can not hold the assumption.
First I tried MagnusCarlsen, but he really has an account here.

My question to you guys, Andy Clifton, The RussianPatzer and, Blueemu, otb rated games only, what is the highest players you beat or drew?
OTB non-rated clock game: Mikhail Tal. He was ranked fourth in the world at the time. Is that high enough?
It's not quite fair asking me for the highest-rated player that I've drawn or beaten in a rated OTB tournament game... I live in the back-woods of New Brunswick. Rated tournaments are not exactly common in this area, and those few that do come around are filled with weak players. I'm probably the only person for dozens of kilometers around who even knows the moves.

please do tell: was that a simul?
or is it simply that even the much weaker player has a chance to draw against a master?

The game started as a simul, but by the early middle-game (around move 20-25), all the other games were finished, Tal pulled out a clock and we played the rest of the game (drawn around move 60) as a clock game. He had made a two-piece sac in the late opening, and I counter-sac'd a Rook to wiggle out of the mating attack. We went on to trade my Queen for two Rooks, and he traded his Queen and most of his Pawns for all four of my minor pieces... leaving us in an ending with his Knight and Bishop against my Rook and three Pawns. I had a won ending, but didn't have enough time left on my clock to win it, so I returned the material to reach a bare-Kings ending. Drawn by insufficient mating material.

Post the game please.

Sounds like a beautiful game!
Yeah. it was a lot of fun. Karpov was standing right behind me through most (or all) of the game, murmuring comments in Russian to a great big guy standing beside him... his former trainer Djindzichashvili?... and it was a really odd feeling trying to play a tough game in time pressure while sandwiched between two World Chess Champions, fore and aft. I'm surprised that I didn't make more errors than I did.

Post the game please.
I'm still looking for the scoresheet. I had it on-hand when I lived in Ottawa, but I haven't been able to find it since moving back home to the Maritimes. The game was played in Saint John New Brunswick, in 1988.

IM. Pfren, my team mate is expressing his opinion and our chess site his online rating is 2060 with over 800 played games, I don't think he has talent but Grandmaster1 is a very nice person from India. You are correct no Grandmaster would use their handle name with starting with Grandmaster but that his is his goal to be a GM.
IM. Pfren, I have a lot respect for your ability and you attain a real title and your norms to become an IM. and you are otb player.

That is really unfortunate!

That is really unfortunate!
Yes, it's a tragedy. I haven't given up hope yet, though... in addition to ransacking my belongings for the scoresheet, I was desperate enough to send a message to GM Djindji on this website and ask him if there was any chance that he remembered anything about the game (25 years later!), so that I could try and reconstruct the score.
His PM reply made it clear that I needed a doctor, for asking such a silly question. My only excuse is desperation.

Didn't there used to be a big chess festival in Saint John?
I have to admit, I'm really jealous. If I had drawn a tic-tac-toe game with Mikhail Tal the game would be framed and hanging on my living room wall. And if I ever drew him in a vodka drinking contest, I'd be dead
This game with Tal took place at the World Chess Festival in Saint John in 1988... but that was just a one-time event. They were hosting the Candidates.

I brought this interesting topic to my other chess site and one my team mate express his opinion.

Wow, so now it's 11000 hours! Must be inflation or something.
