Can anyone help me get higher elo?

Well I play some games in chess and usually they say my rating in my games (from game review) says that my rating from that game should be 500 or higher. I use openings like Ruy Lopez, Italian, 4 knights, etc

BadPlayerEasyToBeat
As I have been told multiple times, openings don’t matter (till like 1000 I guess). The problem you have is playing bullet.
BadPlayerEasyToBeat
It’s just that bullet is not good for beginners
BadPlayerEasyToBeat
I was around 200 in all time controls (disincluding daily) until I started to only play rapid. Now I’m 500.

Someone higher rated will probably back me up and give more info here.

Yeah playing rapid is really good for improving your games... because you have more time to look for a good move...just make sure that when you see a good move you take a second to spot anything possibly better 😉

BlunderKing199x

bullet chess is not for a novice player. In rapid games, there is more time to think if the move is good or not.

I would ask what's causing you to lose games (assuming you're actively trying to increase your elo). Is it more often bc your opponent attacks you and you don't know how to defend or are you someone who struggles to do the threatening yourself (and maybe you've blundered pieces in the process)?

or i guess a third option is struggling with the timer (this one's relatable to me with my incredibly short attention spans and all the careless mistakes I'll make)

At 500 you dont have to ask, its all of the above. They can follow some chess basics tutorial and get better.

thats true but its fair to at least look for their greatest weaknesses. obviously consistency is the most important thing. tutorials and watching high level gameplay is solid too

Add me for a game I’ll help where i can add me to a game 10, 15 or 30 mins I’ll help where I can

Bullet will only make you a weaker player, because it reinforces bad play, poor strategies, and sets you up for failure in longer timed games. Play longer games at first ten minutes or longer. You aren't ready to play bullet. I think most of the higher rated bullet players are near masters at chess, especially 2400 and up. If your weak like us, you stay away from bullet.

Blunders

I would recommend you play some thirty minute games so I hate you have time to blunder-check your moves, once you are consistently not blundering pieces, move down to shorter time controls and see if you can do the same thing but faster

Bullet is for having fun.

Rapid is for improving your chess play.
