can I cancel or abort a game without rating penalty

I have just discovered a game with a single move E4 which I must have somehow  started in error when trying to challenge a friend to a rematch. 

If I abort or cancel the game and start another will it effect my current rating ?  ie will it be seen as a resignation ?

If I cannot cancel this game without penalty then I'll just have to play it out I guess

thank you for responding. The only thing that concerned me really is if I fail to respond to the move withing the allotted time I forfeit the game and lose substantial rating . If i cannot find an option to abort I 'll have to play it instead
