Im 14,and u was just wondering can children improve faster than the adults?Look at this: If a 14 year old rated 1400 and a 35 year old rated 1400 start studying chess from the same schedule, same amount of hours per day.If they were fully dedicated spending no less than 3 hours each day, styding tactics most of the time what would their rating be?

Now:14 year old (1400)-in two years (?)

Now:35 year old (1400)-in two years (?)

Yeah but who said that doing drugs would impede his chess progress?

Instead invest those 2 years into something really useful, like lockpicking.

seriously. Yes given equal quality of training , intelligence, ability etc.

adults  better results are usually due to discipline but the ability of the younger mind to absorb material will gain ground faster in the long run.

Its just a fact based on brain research.

It is very interesting to me that it seems we have reached a lower limit of GM strength around 12 years + a few months. 2200 is around 8 at the bottom level. Considering these as statistical extremes It makes me wonder what developmental issues go on around these ages to create players of this strength.

In my experience, given equal effort and similiar intellegence, the 14 year old will progress faster than the adult.
