Can playing too much Chess hurt a child's brain?

My 6 year old kid has been playing a lot of chess games, sometimes 30 to 40 rapid games (15 minute) games a day on weekends (most games finish under 10 minutes). My wife thinks playing this much Chess isn't good for the kid's brain. He has been winning the local tournaments at his age/grade level and loves the game. I don't want to cut down his Chess time. He is keeping up with his school home work. It is not impacting his grades yet. Are there any downsides to playing too much chess? Before introducing chess to him, he would just waste his free time watching kid stuff on Youtube. Now, he doesn't care about TV much.

Maybe you should just let him enjoy his moment and try to let him adapt to chess more

i genuinley believe if hes not spending more than 2 hours a day playing its good possibly limit usage after 6pm so his brain winds down

The kid is 13 by now. They've probably worked it out. But thanks for bumping a 7 year old post needlessly.
