It's an evil plot to drive all chess players nuts...
I'd just paint the clear pieces black and use the frosted pieces for white. But that's just me.

I would have the clear squares be the 'white' ones...when playing on a table like that, or on a lighter-colored one.
If you play on a darker table, then the clear squares would be 'black.'
And i think the frosted pieces should always be the 'black' ones, regardless of what the square situation is.
Clear is white....but I learned early in my chess playing not to buy glass sets....they break easy too as a bonus.

My wife bought me an expensive marble set once. Had it set up to admire it and all, but It lasted two days. Cat decided to sleep on it and knocked over a bunch of pieces. Super glue and marble aren't friends.
I actually have that exact set! More decorative than practical. It actually doesn't matter which is which, as long as you set up the board correctly and have a "white" square on each player's right hand corner (i.e. h1 and a8 are always "white" squares). From there, just set the board up and make sure the kings and queens are in the right position
Good job mate, that was by far one of the MOST shitty jokes I've ever read.
It is is so shit, it is basically shit taking a shit.
lol my dad bought that set. I think him spending $9.99 is unlikely. Probably cost 5 bucks.
Are you being relevant, helpful and nice Badmarc? It's important to be relevant, helpful and nice.
No.
I'm being helpless, redundant and thrice!
Years ago my father took a tour with some American doctors to look at the Russian medical system. I asked him to get me a Russian chess set. He did not like the sets he saw for sale in Russia, but he did buy a beautiful set made from carved Buckhorn in Sweden. It is too nice to play real chess with. I will have to get one of my grandkids to help me post a photo of it here.
I also have a set of large chessmen made from Olive wood from Israel. I don't have a board large enough for it. You could use the Kings and Queens for clubs!
My dad bought me this set. I honestly can't figure out which color is supposed to be black. Are the white ones black, or the clear ones?
I'm aware that the board isn't set right.
