Can we have an engine analysis during our own live games?

I think that it would be nice if chess.com gave us the ability to analyze our live games with an engine while we are playing them. I would like to know who is winning and what moves are best for each player. Sometimes, I'm not sure what the best move is and having access to an engine would help. Thoughts?

Be careful what you say. You might get reported someday.

Right YOU are!! It seems like cheating to me anyways.

He probably cheats already. He's like 2Q who recently asked whether he is allowed to have ten accounts.

it can help you play right?

Im sorry to dissapoint you, but it won't help you play. You help the computer to play, by making the moves it tells you to.

Yeah I thought you commented on the forum by him that is titled something along the lines of "Am I alowwed ti have 1,000,000 accounts?

If you use a computer, 'you' aren't playing 'at all'. The computer is doing all the number crunching. What would be the point? You're 'not improving', simply because you're 'not playing'. Engage brain, think about your moves, learn from the errors... and enjoy the satisfaction of winning, losing or drawing a game 'un-aided'.

I can't believe this ridiculous topic is still being discussed.  What's next, a requests that players decide how many rating points to add/subtract from their game results?

Icecream4crow

Easy to do without cheating and would be a good training aid-

Just have a different form of live game-

like  Advanced Chess

CHESS_BOY38

It would still be a cool feature if both players were able to see it. Also, what about during huge tournaments like the champions chess finals, they have an engine evaluating those games. Also, what if only the people watching the game could see it?

The reason why they don't show the engine moves for people watching the game is because the person playing the game could just have that open in another window using a different browser that isn't logged in to their main account - if chess.com is tracking IP addresses they can just use a phone. If someone really wants to cheat they can figure out a way to get this effect anyway, but at least don't make it trivial to do it.

Brilliant suggestion by OP though, I'm sure chess.com will be implementing it shortly and Kramnik will see they are not so bad for implementing user suggestions.

Simple answer? No.

Getting advice from a computer is cheating, but seeing just the evaluation for the already made move is a different thing, that would be cool and I thought about this many times as well.

It would give the next player information tantamount to getting advice from the engine. If the evaluation just dropped about three points it probably means he can win a minor piece if he finds the right moves. Those are generally easier to find when he knows they're there.
