I think he's a brilliant player, but I prefer waiting until the end of a player's career to compare. Kasparov currently holds that title in my mind, his two decades of domination would need to be matched.

If Carlsen remained WCC and highest rated player till 2030, yes! He deserves to be the new GOAT. His peformance after 2030 is irrelevant anymore.
