5# King+queen vs. King+two pawns. It's hard.
Can you deliver one of these endgame check-mates?
Every chess player should know the 5 basic checkmates
- KQ vs. K
- KR vs. K
- KBB vs. K
- KBN vs. K
- KNN vs. KP

5# King+queen vs. King+two pawns. It's hard.
What position do you have in mind? There might be some tricky ones (where both pawns are close to queening), but generally this should be super easy.

KNN vs. KP is possible if the pawn is not too far advanced.
One knight must block the pawn.
The king and the other knight must drive the king to the corner.
Then the second knight releases the pawn to run as it goes on to deliver checkmate.
Here is an example game where it happened:

Which position? (Half of these are possible, half are not). Which computer? What depth?

The KR vs K is easy. The 2nd one (two bishops) was hard to learn, but I learnt it last week. The 3rd one idk I haven't started learning it yet, I may start it soon. The 4th one is not OK. One time I made a "King and 2 knights vs lonely king" position and I played as lonely king and played against Maximum chess.com engine. Engine didn't mate me with 2 knights and 50 move rule happened and we drew. In 2 knights mate, opponent has to blunder or make a mistake to make you able to checkmate before draw.

#16 the KNN vs. KP only possible if your opponent has a pawn left. As I write: „KNN vs. K[P]”. The pawn prevents stalemate at the key moment. But if the pawn is too far advanced, then it's impossible as you write.

"4 is too rare to be relevant"
++I have saved many lost positions by going for it.
It is surprising how many chess players cannot checkmate.
2# King+two bishops vs. King
3#King+bishop+knight vs. King
4#King+two knights vs. King+pawn.
I know to deliver the 1#, 2# is hard for me,but i did it once.
