say you’re just playing a friend and you don’t get any elo from the game. (it’s not rated) Can you still get banned?

I hope so, cheating is cheating. Why would you do it, esp to a friend?

Yes. I played someone in an unrated game. I suspected foul play, I reported them and they were banned.

If your friend agreed that you can use engine against them in an unrated game, you won't get banned.
