I'm putting a lot of effort into learning and improving at chess. I've read Reassess Your Chess, Complete Endgame Course, Chess Tactics for Champions, The World's Greatest Chess Games, and Chess Training Pocket book- 300 Most Important Positions. I'm working on Bobby Fischer's 60 Most Memorable games now. I plan to reread the first two books again this fall. I play Online Correspondence Chess at a site that has a ladder system with a max of 4 games at a time, two challenges and two defenses, so I have time to think about my games. I'm 256th out of 1172 as of writing after two and a half years playing there but it fluxuates a lot as people are constantly passing you and sliding below you everyday and games can take from a week to over a month depending on how fast the players move.
I avoid blitz as it has been recommended by many that to improve best you need time to think about your moves and I always analyze my losses and sometimes draws and wins. I learned Opening Principles and follow them and have set aside opening study for later on the recommendation and advices I have found online. I found a site that trains your tactical ability online yesterday which I'm excited about and plan to spend time everyday using. I want to keep improving but I'm running out of online advises and recommendations and rules of thumb on google and now I think I need some more individualized advises and recommendations like you need to work on XYZ or go read ABC book, and I would like to play some more Correspondence Chess via email with stronger players so that I have more losses to analyze and see how better players play and help find my weaknesses. I'm attaching two recent games I've played so that you have a better idea where I am at and what I need to do from here. I can't find my latest losses because the system deletes the game messages after some time and it's been a few months since my last loss but I did find a recent draw to add.
Sorry for the lengthy post. TL:DR
1) I've read some chess books and looking for possible other book recommendations
2) I play Correspondence Chess and avoid blitz as recommended online to improve my play
3) I practice tactics everyday
4) I'm looking for strong players to play Correspondence Chess via email as Online is to fast for my needs
5) I've attached two games recent games of mine so you can see where I'm at and give more individual advice on what I need to do now to keep improving my play
Thanks!
