Can you solve this BEAUTIFUL mate?

Hey all! The below is a position from a recent game of mine, where I played this brilliant knight sacrifice. In the game, my opponent did not take and play continued, but can you solve the forced mate sequence had he taken the piece?

Let me know!

Allow me to take a gander...

If 15.hxg4:

15...Qh4+

16. Qh3 Rxf1+

17. Kh2 Bg1+

18. Kh1 Bf2+

19. Kh2 Bg3#

If 15.Qxg4:

15...Rxf1+

16. Kh2 Bd6+

17. g3 (not 17.Qg3, for obvious reasons) Qb6

and ...Qg8# cannot be prevented.

I have decided to not go into the analysis mode, so I have no idea if this is right. Here's hoping I didn't just spout off a whole bunch of nonsense 💀

First one is dead on! The Queen takes line you calculated is good and definitely winning but isn’t actually forced mate, just an overwhelming advantage. But pawn takes was the main one I intended people to calculate, so you did well!

Instead of bd6+ (which is still forced mate) you might find qd6+ easier to calculate the remainder of the sequence…

I realize that now. d4 does kinda stop the "unavoidable" mate I was going for in the second line 🫠 Also I actually analyzed it now and realized the correct line if the queen takes is a bit more obvious than I was making it out to be grin

I was close, though...I'll take that.

Very close! And you solved the aesthetic one really well so good on.

I think mate is forced for both (pawn takes and queen takes) but I am not sure for the second one.

If pawn takes :

Qh4+ Qh3 Rxf1+ Kh2 (Qe1 should work from here too to mate on h1 I think) Bg1+ Kh1 and then Bf2+ Bg3#

If queen takes Rxf1+ Kh2 Qc7+ (or Qd6+) if Queens block Bg1+ and mate comes with the same Bf2 Bg3 as before. If pawn blocks Raf8 seems that mate is forced, but I didn't calculate further.

I didn't want to spoil myself so I avoided looking to the previous comments so I’ll go check them now but we probably have the same result 🙃. I wouldn't be surprised if there were multiple mates possibilities for each line, but I am too bad in calculations to search them all.

Thank you very much for sharing, it was fun trying to solve! I shall now go to the analysis and see if I was right !

Solid calculation my dude! Reckon you would’ve played the knight move to start with in a game scenario?
