Hard to tell the exact problem without visuals, however, it may be because the "watch" feature is in the same place that the "play" feature brings you to. At the top right, when you're in the game, you can click the "x" to close out of watching the game, and "new game" to start a new game.
Can't play after spectate

After spectating a game from a friend or any other game I cant seem to play. When I press play and online game it takes me back to the game I was spectating
