It´s not over yet but the super human Norwegian has 1,5 points of advantage to rest of the field with 5 rounds to go

YouTube Carlsen's loss against A. Kosteniuk in blitz. He tries to cheat, gets busted by Kosteniuk and throws a tantrum, leaving the board without a gentlemanly handshake. A. Kosteniuk reports that Carlsen's *father* apologizes to her for his son's behavior, but not Carlsen himself. He really behaved like a spoiled brat after Kosteniuk whipped him - and whipped him good - over the board.

Funniest thing was, Carlsen stared into space during most of their game as if it didn't require his attention. She got his attention - but by then, her boot was on his throat and there was no escape!

Another great thing about that YouTube video is how Kosteniuk replays Carlsen's cheating in both slow motion and super slow motion to really stick it to him lol

Don't mess with A. Kosteniuk!

Maybe.  But there are a number of strong players (FIDE top 100) who prefer to look away from the board to calculate variations... I think it was Ivanchuk who said he'd sometimes analyse his tournament games for an hour or two while taking a walk in the park (no board needed).

fabelhaft

Carlsen resigned as soon as he realised he already had played the wrong piece, such things happen in blitz but the incident is usually brought up again every time Carlsen is playing well by those that feel unhappy about it :-)

Carlsen is obviously a great player but I doubt he'll be world champion. He has a lot of drive but not the amount needed to be world champion. Didn't he no longer want Kasparov to coach him because Kasparov was too demanding?

He's playing some good chess though.

Talented but lazy?  Wait are we talking about the world champion Capablanca? Wink

He's young, he still has a few decades to get fired up.  And if you want to argue he's not the strongest player in the world right now, you'd have to concede he's in the top 3 at the very least.  So worst case scenario he's a very strong contender for the WC.  And IMO if one were held in a few months he'd be favored.

To say you don't think he'll ever be WC isn't reasonable.

Time will tell. You're right about what other players said about Capablanca. He may have been fired up enough to beat Alekhine if they ever had a rematch

I agree with richie.... I also believe that.... carlson wont win the championship because he isnt ready to win yet.... ( experience ) there is something to be said when somebody tries to come take what is yours... I believe the hulk will come out of annad and dominate carlson
