Only if Carlsen is blindfolded.

Nah, we are not robots. Emotions are high. She is apparently so void of interviewing talent that she must resort to stirring up drama. He has many demands on his time, and doesn't have time for nonsense. Many high achievers would respond the same way. It's part of why they are successful. Maybe I like Anand more than I thought.

@KnightDwarf:  Anand behaved well enough with Carlsen but he was extremely rude to the woman who was the moderator.  I only remember one occasion:  she asked Anand if, in a certain critical position, he was trying to calculate every variation to the end.  His reply was, "No, I was thinking about what to have for dinner tonight."

There were quite a few moments like that.  Now, Anand had just lost a game and it is understandable that he might be touchy about it.  Still, he was still World Champion at this point and he didn't seem to understand how little this made him look.  I lost respect for him.

Lol I love that answer!

people ruling out anand in the canidates could be surprised, though if they play again,carlsen will beat him

Whoever will win will play with Carlson. Aronian wont get chance to play world championship because chess fans want him to play. He needs to earn his place and its not in reward. If everyone thinks that Anand is worst among 8 players then why did the best player ( Aronian) lost him. Player like Anand does not need recognition on chess.com. He has been a great player since 25 years. I wont be surprised if he wins the candidate champ.

I saw many comments here on Anand post interview after the match. But we all are human and nobody wants to loose world champ crown and its very hard to come for press conference immediately loose the match. But still for me his behavior was fine. How did Carlson behaved in initial 4 matches. I still remember he was not willing to speak to anyone and it was Anand who was giving the replies. What if Carlson would have lost the championship. I am sure that he is much much more rude then Anand and would not have accepted his defeat as gracefully as Ananad did. Anand accepted in all the post interviews that Carlson deserved to win and he did not commit mistakes by himself but rather Carlson force him to do mistakes.

I think it's a really good answer. That's called humor, you know ?

I would like to see Topalov or Svidler to challenge Carlsen. But it would be nice if it was Anand, and he beats Carlsen. Nothing against Magnus, he's my favorite.

@achja

Its not the first time Anand has got victory over Aronian. He played few wonderful games againts Aronian. He won few matches and lost few that too when you are saying that now he is just shadow of the great player he was.

You have to give him credit that he came from the country where noone cares about chess  stablished himself in era of Kasparove and Karpove and became 5 times world champ. It's diffcult to ignore at any stage and any age if he is playing.

he came from the country where noone cares about chess

Is it true that Anand was the first GM from India?

yalechess

@ZBorris

Based on Wikki. Anand is the first grandmaster India had produced.

@achja. Thanks for your comments and I agree that recently his game was boring..:) may be he has played all his cards in last 25 yrs.

I've heard Nakamura blame himself for failing to qualify. Not the rules, they knew them in advance. He can accept it, why can't others? We have the rankings if that's all people find important, the WC is something different.

Nobody complains in other sports if the top ranked teams fail to get to the final. You have to perform when it matters.

rnunesmagalhaes

Says FIDE, the authority responsible to manage the rules, with agreement of all top players. If a player does not agree with the rules, he announces he is out of a particular cycle, as Carlsen did a couple of years ago.

Nakamura didn't qualify because he failed to meet the criteria he agreed with, not because the tournament selection is arbitrary.

WHO IS SAYING AGAINST ANAND,

PLEASE SEE POINT TABLE AFTER ROUND 3

HE WILL MAKE COMEBACK AND DEFEAT CARL.

zBorris

On the side note, I think important tournaments and matches should not have rest days on the weekends.

Says you and anyone else who wants to follow the rule.  It doesn't have be the rule.  I highly doubt all players agree to this.  There isn't much they can do by themselves.  It's either follow the "rules" which people like yourself are enslaved to follow without any appeal or consideration of other tournaments, or you can choose to not participate.

Then please create the FTDE, Federation Tigerprowlesque Des Echecs, where London Classic becomes a qualifier. I am sure a massive crowd will join you.

Sorry, but the Vladinator will crush Anand and make him run back to India like a girly man.

I'm just not happy with the facts or rules!
You're idiots for not supporting my point of view.
Let me refute everything that comes out of you fools ...
because that's just what I do, that's just what I do.

MrDamonSmith

Kramnik doesn't look any different (or very much) 20 years later.
