Castle vs light/dark bishop

I looked around the internet for about 5 minutes and I could not find an answer so I wanted to bring my question to the forums. Maybe it has been asked before, maybe not. So jumping right in...when it comes to castleing(abc check?), assuming your opponent has only one bishop, what side does light/dark bishop perform best on. I guess another way to put it would be: if my opponent has only light bishop, what side should I castle. I should have castled much earlier, I didn't, probably my first mistake. If we can look past that though, I would like to hear from experience. Thanks in advance.

Castling to one side or the other doesn't really have an effect on the enemy bishop's performance, so let me try to give different criteria and then use it to answer your question.

The most common ways for a bishop (and other pieces) to be attacking is:

1) attacking a weak enemy pawn
2) assisting in checkmate

(attacking non-pawns is possible too of course, but weak pieces can run away easier than pawns and kings can, so we'll use these for my examples)

So here's some basic examples to illustrate these two

But in real positions there are other elements at play too, so it would help if you posted a game of yours that made you think of this question.

A consideration is that each Bishop has an 8 square diagonal.
