Castling does not protect my king, it traps my king.

it's the other way round mate. by castling earlier you will make yourself better. just learn how to defeat pawn storms.

I guess I need to learn more because right now I hate castling. Maybe I am too much of a novice, but castling seems like a stall tactic.

march your king straight up the board. position him in the middle then say yield you peasant.
