Hi Bamidele, on this lesson page you'll find a great explanation of castling, stalemate, and en passant--the three rules new players often struggle with. :)
I always thought that once a player had been in check, he or she could not castle. Is that true? I am playing a game now where my opponent has been in check, yet he was able to castle.
A king may not castle while he's in check, but whether or not he was in check at some earlier point in the game doesn't affect his ability to castle.

Also one more rule about castling that is often forgotten is that if your king moves into check while castilng through one of its intermediate positions, than it is not allowed to castle.
Castling is up to Loomis in every game. If he says yes, then it's OK.
