And your comment is not a matter of opinion?
it is!
just as charles' editorials were. the "voice of reason" should have been what i highlighted.
Ok. Let's just agree to disagree. You have a right to your opinion, as I have a right to mine.

we can.
one grievance i have with many is that, when someone passes, or, in this case, is near passing, they are regularly put in a positive light simply because they were famous.
Batgirl, I had no idea that you were an Obama-hating Republican who supported the Iraq War!
A comment like that seems totally unnecessary and intentionally divisive. I don't know much about him but it doesn't surpise me at all that he plays chess. He always is sensible and reasonable. He is logical and thoughtful. When he does show emotion, it's always about something he firmly believes in. In other words, he isn't faking it. He doesn't do or say things that are deceptive or misleading. I wish more people were like him.

I understand its your schtick to post stupid/ignorant comments. But this is a human being that deserves our compassion. Hes not a political affiliation, or political party.

i can understand how some think this way. i hope you and others can understand how many others disagreed with his op-ed writing and his views that were televised. he did have views that were misleading, because it was opinion, and, when he was featured on fox, he was considered an expert many times with no person to debate his opinions.
the fact that he was an intelligent fellow that followed politics does not mean he is to be revered. it also does not mean that what he stated was sensible.
i do agree that he never faked it.
BG, Thanks for sharing the insightful links. Krauthammer certainly has lead an extraordinary life. Would that each of us could leave with his kind of grace and find our own Pariah Chess Club.
Charles Krauthammer is/was a bright shining star mind, author and commentator on contemporary politics, society and culture. Whether or not you agreed with him, he was a thoughtful, intelligent voice of reason. Whenever I saw him on TV I always stopped to listen. He will be missed. He was a man who mattered...

Well said. He was, in my opinion, one of the least obnoxious pundits that I disagreed with.

You don't know anything about me so don't be so presumptuous.
i wonder how any of us would react if we knew we only had a few weeks left.
The idea of death doesn't bother me. The idea of everyone knowing when it will likely occur does.
This is political.
No it is not. People are tying to make it so.
A well-known man, who is also a chess aficionado, is dying. that's not political but it is relevant to a chess site.
many that read him disagreed with his ideas/thoughts. i have to say that i read a few articles from him where i, also, thought it was nonsense.
And many mostly agreed with him, and thought his point of view generally made good sense...including me.
