chat being disabled

Has anyone else tried to chat with other players and every time you try it says that person is unavailable to chat....is it just me or has everyone have that on now?

I turned off chat for live games. While it was fun sometimes, the majority of the time it was distracting at best.

There is a setting where you can do this, and is most likely the reason you can't talk to some people.

When I get the in-game notification saying my opponent wants to chat, 99% of the time it's right after they've blundered and they're either A) begging for a draw because they were moving too quickly, or B) going on an angry racist rant. After a while, you start to realize it's just not worth it.

I'm not accusing you of being one of these people. That's just my experience.

nah i dont do that im a chess.com supporter, just saw it was basically disabled for everyone...all i say is dont worry you will improve in every game lol

I find it amusing when people ask for a draw after blundering, knowing full well most wouldn't give you the same mercy. My favorite, people who say "gg" after they think they've won the game. Or laugh at make an emoji of you blundering. All players who do that imagine you were in a chess tournament and you pointed your finger at, laughed at your opponent across from you at the table after they made a mistake. You act like little kids. That's not your best friend. Be a gent(It's mostly guys who do this) Show sportsmanship.

I'd find that pretty funny if it happened to me OTB lmao

Nah its funnier when they lose, then they go and hide after they made such a comment ....dont need sportsmanship in chess when you can make a fool of yourself in the process...though i doubt anyone at a tourney otb would actually point and laugh

The goal is to just throw you off you rgame with casual talk.....not for me i just play and dont rematch ever, i find playing the same person twice in a row is boring win or lose

Avatar of FavelaSwag

Yes turn the chat off and never rematch I’ve learned my lessons

Avatar of Oddesyus

@ryanovster I practice sportsmanship in any competitive game I play. What do you you mean you don't need it? lol. Just a friendly jab to you I got "The Machine" on the Chess personality quiz btw😐. The point of me saying imagine is exactly what, why I said imagine. You would think of these players with no tournament exp. who do that would never be in a chess opening in the very, VERY first place.

The only instance where I had a conversation recently was someone asking for a draw because of a mouseslip. Otherwise I usually cant say "good game" after the game or anything. So yes at least in my rating area people have almost all disabled chat.

Avatar of Gojolimit

To be fair most of the time chat is toxic, or used as a strategy to distract here....

Avatar of Ze_Shoopuf

It says that is unavailable when they use focus mode I think. I use that quite a lot, as I want to play the position, not the opponent

Avatar of Cat_Hen

Its sad, i just want to talk :(

Avatar of ryanovster

if you want talk do it on live streams wher eyo dont hav eto waste time typing

Avatar of MrChatty

I used to talk even during bullet games

Avatar of FavelaSwag

People stay quiet the whole game and when u blunder then they start talking and it puts u in a frenzied rage
