Not true. A king may castle despite having been in check earlier in the game. As long as the king and the rook it castles with have not moved during the game, castling is legal.
The king cannot castle out of check, or through/to a square in check.

You misunderstood the castling rules. When a king is on check you can't castle to avoid that check. But if you remove that check and your king and rook hadn't moved you can still castle.
And you can't move through check or into check.
