cheater_1 vs. chess.com

The Nature of Justice. The question which opens this immense dialogue is: What is justice? Several inadequate definitions are put forward, but the most emphatically presented definition is given by a young Sophist, Thrasymachus. He defines justice as whatever the strongest decide it is, and that the strong decide that whatever is in their best interest is just. Socrates dismisses this argument by proving that the strong rarely figure out what is in their best interest and this can't be just since justice is a good thing. Now where is Erik in all of this? Keep the censorship and restrictions!I may be wrong! If that’s the case I apologize.

First off, I am a bit above average when I play legit. HOW many times must I reiterate that? But for someone who has been playing as long as I have, I should be much better. I'm glad to see that many of you NOW HAVE seen the light. You see things from MY perspective and see why I turned to cheating. It's all about knocking the king off the hill and patting yourself on the back for doing it. Nothing more.

I want to thank ERIK for actually going along with this and making it happen. I'm sure it'll bring some joy, something to look forward to, in many of the members' mundane days over this summer. Remember, Kasparov vs the World took FOUR months to complete. I'm quite confident my TRIO of computer programs will dispatch you all in less time (48 moves oughta do it).

In this ONE instance, when I win, I shall be a perfect gentleman and not rub it in your faces. I feel as I've been given a gift to participate in this match. I'm a guest in your home. I shall behave perfectly.

There will be times when I will have NO access to a computer for Several days on end, so I will have to figure out how to adjourn the game once in a while without losing.

Also, I hope there is some list that has all the moves that were voted on so I can view them.

Good luck Team chess.com

Well, that's a bit different. First you can say you can do it, then you point out the people that will use a engine is becoming "you" saying 36 or something just went to the dark side. Then you second the thought about making people use engines to play against you. being unhappy with it, since you don't want us to use the engine since we might go back to them to play against other players. The chances of that isn't that big or it might be. But come on, the chance of a honesty good player will keep using the engine after the vote chess isn't that much of a chance. So then. If you don't want us to use engines then how about you don't use a engine and just use you're brain, eh? Well never the less, it isn't being bothered with. Chances of the game actually "reaching" 46 move's isnt much. As well of the 12 moves in mate after the 46th move, but who know's? Only the game will tell.

Erik will recant and stop this charade. Maybe CHEATER_1 is right and Erik is moving to the dark side.

Definitely – and I’m sorry to say – Erik has lost same aurora in my book if this game should take place.

Nobody is perfect!
erik

there is nothing "dark" about having an interesting contest online. we were going to do a all vs. one computer match anyway, so this just fits in perfectly. and cheater_1 is an interesting character. some hate him, some love him, some are just amused. this isn't a charade. it's an event for people to participate in if they want to. if they don't then they can move on the the million other things to do on chess.com :)

sorry if you don't see it the same way ;)

why not match your "secret unmateable" thing against the rest of the chess engines...   they have competitions for stuff like that don't they?

I know, I know.

But your words still resonate when a few months ago you said something like the kids and how to “protect” the children etc. I was first taken away a bit but I like people with principles.

Perhaps you remember:

Erik’s words:

“My personal opinion is that i don't have much respect for homeless drug addicts or people who intentionally lose games. Why do you nominate him?”“i agree that he is a fascinating character :) but when i consider the possible youngsters who may frequent this site i would not feel comfortable holding him up in any way.”

Who are we holding up now? In any case Don Erik. Controversies will only and only help.   PEACE!

I see cheater_1 signed in with his LATITUDE account and decided to trick us all by using red text instead of capital letters to make his point. Thanks for outing yourself sir.

Latitude has nothing to do with that Cheater_1.  So you better keep looking somewhere else for your Ghosts!

Even though Cheater _1 has violated the prime directive of cheats by admiting his computer use we have to commend his honesty. Hopefully he will come back to the light and realize that the game of chess is best played  human vs human and in an honest manner. As for his computer vs team chess.com challenge, it is what it is and not what it isn't and thats good. That is to say it is a game agaist a couple of computer programs that have taken over for an apparently absent brain.
lecycliste

personally, I rather see chess.com versus some engine.

and less noise

hahaha14

So, where exactly is the satisfaction of letting a computer dictate your moves !

The only reason most grand masters played against computers was to investigate the capabilities of the computer, so what's the point of this game ? The odd one or two played because there ego's dictated that they beat everything and everybody.

Thanks

I'm holding my breath.

The horses##t is over my head.

erik- you should keep your "Aurora" <sic> away from the chess.com server or the the whole works will crash.

Cheater_1 can't play chess and doesn't know his latin.  I am pretty sure aurora just means "dawn" unless you are think of the northern lights.  So, erik has lost his dawn if this game takes place?

Thompson

"Eric has lost some aurora ".

Aurora (noun in this case, I think) in this context refers to how revered Erik is by all of us. Aurora was the ancient Roman goddess of the dawn and it is also a name for the northern lights and equivalent over the south pole.
