Cheating by using software engines for online challenges

Hi

Last week I played two 10 min games on chess.com (challenge, rated) against someone rated in 1600s. Their play was much stronger than their rating. I suspect use of a chess software to decide moves. Is this possible? Has anyone had a similar experience?

(I will not disclose the player in question until appropriate).

If you truly suspect someone of cheating, then report their profile.  I would leave it at that.  I do not believe discussions about cheating are allowed in the general forums.

Unfortunately this is a common event. If you report the player though, you can be reasonably sure it will be detected if that's the case. From what I've read, Chess.com's ability to detect cheating is top notch in terms of the balance of specificity and sensitivity
