Interesting, you know that Smiley was a spy created by john le carré. Some of the titles are :

- the spy that came in from the cold

- the honourable schoolboy

Both titles could be linked to the main character of this article...

sidenote: the title of that book is the earliest known use of the phrase "come in from the cold" in print. 

 

if i had to guess, i'd say he copied the enotate screens and layed them over the fritz engine.
