checkmated but the game continued??

I recently played this 30 minute game. Strange, I am in checkmate, but the game continued? Because I had no where to move my king, I had to let 25 minutes run out :(. How come for this? Is this a known bug in chess.com?

In this position, White can plan 23. Re2 to block the check.

Not checkmate, but Bxe2+ looks resignable a complete rook and bishop down after 24.Kxe2 and gxh6

Chessmentor2

It's not a bug or a checkmate. You have a legal move and you didn't take it. Rook to e2.

its possible, when he takes your king you can simply capture his king and its a draw...

With no disrespect to Till_98 intended... that being the best troll response of the day shows that troll have been pretty inactive today.

Till_98 is a good troll, by all means. But his comment above isn't a great indicator of what he's capable of.

Probably right; my apologies to any and all trolls whose posts have gone unrecognized for their greatness.  I still like it a lot though...

That akward moment when you think its checkmate but it isn't.  Innocent

Darth_Algar

You're a 1245 player and you didn't realize you could block his B5 bishop with your rook? How in the....?

id be willing to bet your opponent also made a thread in the forums complaining about a idiot player he was beating just sitting there (for 25 minutes!) and letting his time run out by not resigning when he was losing! Laughing

You're rated 1245 and you didn't notice that. Why am I rated only about 850 standard when I spotted that with ease?

Darth_Algar

Someone playing on someone else's account maybe? That's about the only rational explaination I can think of.
