What's the rarest kind of checkmate?

It is a doubly disambiguated bishop capture checkmate

A kind is obligatory plural right. So I do agree with people one checkmate in a game after a specific moves sequence but beside that, I would say checkmating with only a knight and the other has a bishop blocking the king's escape square.

There's one mate that never happens. I was gonna speak about it, and this guy above me has told it. Good boy!

Everyone knows it. So you're not dead. ALSO...

It happens quite often. Nakamura checkmated another grandmaster with just a lone knight. More rare would be a checkmate that actually has never happened. Or possibly only once.

two knights vs king mate

How about any mate you missed? Think about it. BTW, I know the common answers but I like to think different.

The rarest checkmate is the doubly disambiguated bishop capture checkmate, which requires an extremely specific setup with three bishops of the same color and has been mathematically proven to be rarer than winning the lottery. Other contenders for the rarest checkmate include the castling checkmate and various knight-based checkmates, such as a forced two-knight checkmate where the opponent must have a pawn to move.

That would only be the rarest checkmate IF it's only happened once. There are countless checkmates that involve the exact same scenario you described, "requires an extremely specific setup".

It's likely that all of us, at some time, have accomplished a checkmate that in all the history of chess has never been repeated.
