Chess : science or art?

Ah...chess...let me see...it is like the wafting fragrance of daffidils blossoming in the springtime. It is a chimera...a flute in the wind...a vicarious embattlement...a Machiavellian sonnet of wits...
See, I can wax eloquently about chess, too. Ugh! Now I feel abdominal cramps coming...bucket!!!
Mmmm not bad you started off like William Wordsworth but ended up more like Eddie Murphy!!

There is an inherent connection between art and science, and chess illustrates that relationship quite beautifully...
i say it is a science and an art. think about it we set value on the differint peaces we evaluate risks vs rewards and probablity of a move. The we go back and evaluate games and addapt and we studdy openings. we use creativity to form stratagy

Sounds suspiciously like life...who said life wasn't a science? In fact, the words conscience and science are etymologically linked; to partly quote Sir Michael Caine : ' And not many people know that'!

The "black box" is of course just a machine with zero intelligence, but the ability to process huge numbers very quickly. Sadly, this rather moronic trait more than compensates for its inability to think.
Especially when you give it one of your positions to look at, it pauses for a few seconds, then plays a move that you considered and rejected, and announces mate in 25 (Yes, this has happened to me).
Mwhahaha. Pathetic, feeble human.
