In this picture . .. we see the ultimate chess addict: Jude Acers
The all too consuming world of chess. I think at least every serious chess player had Chess to interfere with either one of the following
School Work Significant Other Social LifeI lived in DC a couple of summers ago and would play with a group of guys in Silver Springs, MD at the Starbucks. It's really funny... we would sit out there and play all night... and if we got tired...we would travel to Dupont Circle and play more. I'm not married, but the married guys wives would call them and couldn't believe they were possibly out until 2am playing chess! lol. We had a discussion...and suprisignly...each person had some conflict with chess and their girlfriend/boyfriend/wife at some point (and the younger players school lol).
So I guess my question is... how did you tame your chess bug? (or rather... is it tamed at all? lol)

Chess is an excellent and useful game but like all things must be pursued in moderation (outside of professionals of course). Although, I can definitely relate and not just regarding chess.
You are deceived comrade. Chess does not interfer with life because chess is life: the one true path! Stop frittering away your lives on empty efforts and concentrate on the real prize!

The first website I visit when I get on the computer is not google. Here is what I do:
1. Open Chrome
2.Type 'chess' and press ctrl + Enter
This works, ctrl +enter adds www. and .com to an address giving you quicker access to chess.com...I mean...the Internet.
works with explorer as well...
now I can save vital seconds logging onto chess.com.
thx

I can't walk across a series of squares without moving in the shape of a knight
I thought this one might be a joke...but I'm rethinking that.
I'm sorry to confess it isn't

Yeah, I believe that's his spot in the French Quarters

I push my wood every morning.
Well at least you are unlike me... popping up at random chess clubs (I travel a lot)... the dialogue is something like this..
"Oh... chess... is this some sort of chess club or something... I haven't played in ages...mind if I get a game?"
After the normal perfunctory questions like, "Are you USCF rated?" I just say... "yeah but I can't remember my rating... its been a long time ago ha ha lol.
And then proceed with giving them a game ...
LOL. I like that Gomer_Pyle lol
