Do you think in terms of pictures (ie) patterns..?

Or mathermatics.?.some people apparently think in terms of maths..?

Can someone explaine how they think in terms of mathermatics please...?

I think in terms of dirty pictures and fuzzy math.

I am not certain I understand the question "Can someone explaine how they think in terms of mathermatics please...?"  I have a fairly logical and mathamatical mind.  I think that I attempt to put algorithms to many things.  I am not certain how I apply that to chess.  I think I calculate probabilities of opponents moves etc.  Is this what you are asking?

What do you mean by "thinking in terms of maths"? Most people do think things like "a bishop is worth 3 and a rook is worth 5 so trading a bishop for a rook is good." But is that really math just because it has numbers?

Certainly people try to figure out what will happen as a consequence of their moves, i.e. if I move here then my opponent will move there. Perhaps a proof of this if/then statement is thinking in terms of math.

Some people might try to keep a numerical tally of positional values. For example, doubled pawns are worth -0.1, the bishop pair is worth +0.5, etc. Is this thinking in terms of math?

Apparently..Some people think more in patterns ..ie pictures..?  And some are inclined to think in maths...Imagin you want to bang a nail in a wall, to hang a picture..? Some will focus on where they want the nail..(Like me)..and get it almost spot on...

The maths type will have to measure it ..Because they think in terms of values..?

Chess notations are algebraic. Some players think in chess notations, while others think in visual patterns.

Qd8 = Nxe4 + Bxh1 - (Qxh4+) - *

Note: * = time used performing calculation

Galois proved chess equations of more complexity cannot be solved.
