Chess Arrogance Acting like a Heroes!!!

They Afraid Own Soul Shadow...

Marshal_Dillon
The worst ones are the hot shot kids who can beat all the other little kiddies in their elementary or junior high school class (but have no real world chess experience) so they think that makes them the next Bobby Fischer, then when they go online or to a OTB tournament and play against real chess players, their little egos get crushed when they lose and they can't figure out why.

The Chess /Life/ Arrogance and Violence are Highly Related!

I always click the tab that minimizes the main chat as soon as I log into live chess and if you're bothered by it I suggest you do the same.  I agree, it serves no purpose but to allow the spammers and three year old kids a place to taunt each other and such.  If I see text from a bunch of users like Khaled and Yabbadoo and Cockyconseeded or whatever their names are, I'll tab it out immediately without question.  There's a whole slew of these guys that just fill the place with random drivel and don't realize that nobody thinks they're funny/interesting.  In the end they just waste a whole lot of their own time...   I think a bunch of the moderators are in on it too from what I've seen.  The etiquette on live chess is also notably poorer than what you'll find in correspondence, most likely because it's more like a video game so it attracts the younger kids.

You need to play bullet games then, so that way you are playing so fast you don't have time to read all those bad words that hurt your delicate little mind.
LoneWolfEburg
Honestly, LiveChess does need some moderating.

Chess arrogance = intellectual insecurity ... simple formula. Dealing with it? Checkmating is always good for that Smile ... or you might go with; " Did you see on ChessDOTcom where it was determined that Chess Arrogance is really a character flaw stemming from an underlying sense of intellectual inferiority!?" Laughing

I would really like it if there were a way to disable chat altogether for the live chess. Especially the public chat.

Where is a House Cleaner?

Why not create a administrator? If someone offend you in a game chat or post, report it to administrator. Few complais equal to time out. Second time, double time out. Third time expell!

Or create a socialization score. You meet a nice guy, give him a ok, whin 5 points. If is not, give him a "bad" and lost 5 points.
When you pick someone to play you could see how social that person is.
Offensive language lost 10 points!

That is just an idea.

Doesn't a statement like that just strongly undercut your moral authority to criticise others about being arrogant?

Wow. A sentence ending in a dot.
AWARDCHESS
If you don't need a brush or a Cleaner, undercut a Seekers!
