What do good chess players and good pilots have in common? Discipline, attention to detail? Willingness to plan?

CapCloud

All of the above AND:

Love for the endeavor, confidence, responsibility for one's decisions, and the uncanny ability to cope with the unexpected.

The one thing a pilot should have that a chess player doesn't need? Color vision.

If you need to land your queen in a river then it would come in handy if your a chess pilot.

The ability to "hold it" when you need to pee... The ability to evaluate a changing, dynamic situation, and to make logical decisions.

Hey thanks...I'm a pilot (sort of) I am actually going to post pictures of me in the sky next week.

May I ask, what is a "pilot (sort of)"?

I'm a student without a license. I Do takeoffs and landings with my instructor.

Okay, mwilkin9. Good luck with the training. Flying must be nice in the Bahamas. I was there once, on a cruise, not a plane.

I love flying and chess. My dad took me flying when he got is single-engine license quite frequently.  Passion is something you need for chess and flying. Most people either love them or hate them.
